Technology Roadmaps and Innovation Framework


Position summary:

This position is part of the CNHI’s “Advanced Technology and Innovation” activities and will report to the Advanced Technology and Innovation Vice President. Define a world class organization to develop and govern technology roadmaps and technical standards for AG and CE products, collaborating with an internal expert network and external industry experts (universities, startups, tech partners,..) Work closely together with the different product development teams in Technology, Digital, Agriculture and Construction to develop and approve longer term technology roadmaps for the different products and technologies. Establish the connections and support to manage Open Innovation activities globally, including the whole ecosystem (universities, start-ups, tech partners … ) aiming to accelerate collaboration and speed of technology introduction. Explore and leverage on opportunities for public funding. Work closely together with the Institutional Relations organization that manages Industry organizations that are the soundboard for the Governmental institutions and have the goal to support the decision making process of legislators in order to get suitable policies and regulatory frameworks (advocacy). Identify regulatory compliance experts to interpret and communicate current regulations and future regulatory changes to the Product Lines, Competency Centers and Segments. Define a CNHi strategy for industry workgroups participation and lead the CNHi coordination efforts with the internal experts. Develop technical standards that will become compulsory for product development, testing and homologation. Major global standards development industry groups: Abimaq, AEMP, ASABE, EATA, OECD, UNECE, AEF, AgGateway, CEN, ISO, OICA and SAE. Communication and open mindset are key to coordinate and motivate the teams to focus on different ways to innovate in an open innovation environment. This position will work directly with all CNH´s employees in the Technology group, but will impact with her/his work all other Segment and Function teams.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work as technology and innovation system team member, developing functional and innovative processes and tools to address future customer needs.

  • Lead and coordinate the elaboration of technology roadmaps, developed with the Innovation, Technology, Digital, GPP and Brand teams.

  • Develop and promote an open innovation approach, leveraging on internal strength, while engaging the entire eco-system.

  • Review and understand technologies and trends that will influence medium and long term Innovation system and consequentely product plans.

  • Key enabler for a more radical innovation approach, using the 4 lenses concepts and an extensive amount of independent thinking, required to generate new ideas.

  • Estabilish a relationship / partnership with universities / start ups / tech centers and suppliers in order to scout the best solution to close gaps on the requirements / roadmaps already developed, and guarantee its development until implementation.

  • Update the Innovation Framework and Technology Roadmap management tools (dashboard, kpi-tool,…). Keep metrics to follow the improvement status and share best practices.

  • Help creating an innovation culture inside CNH by promoting new concepts as disruptiveness, collaboration, diversity, future vision. Conduct workshops, open Innovation meetings, hackatons … with multi functional teams. Share ideas for continuous improvements on innovation systems and best practices for the team. Transfer all the innovation systems and best practices to all CNHI teams involved with Innovation projects and support them. Coordinate the global Innovation Week and other innovation events to support cultural and technical transformation.

  • Competency and desire to become and stay expert in his/her domain of knowledge. Willing to travel to gain experience and assist the different teams in defining their technology roadmaps.

  • Estabilish a relationship/partnership with the major global Industry Standards Development Groups (ISDG). Conduct regular ISDG meetings and workshops with the internal stakeholders. Share best practices with all CNHI teams involved with ISD projects. Competency and desire to become and stay expert in this domain of knowledge.

  • Assure proper Product Line accountability and participation in the Industry Standard Development Groups. Map and check ISDG coverage and identify gaps to be addressed together with the Product Lines. Promote/support CNHi expert leading roles in national and international ISDGs. Assure key stakeholders on time decisions on major ISDG strategic issues / options. Define metrics to follow and monitor the Industry standard development process. Provide subject matter expertise using a repository for ISDG reporting and tracking. Update the ISDG management tools (dashboard, kpi-tool,…)




The ideal candidate will have:

  • Prior experience with any kind of work with Technology Roadmaps and Open Innovation processes. Prior experience with any kind of work with start ups and / or universities and suppliers. Have some experience in having negotiated or participated in partnerships/joint ventures/spin offs. Prior experience with any kind of work with Industry Standards Development Groups.

  • Very profound understanding of the agriculture and construction equipment products and technologies.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master of Science in Engineering. PhD is preferred.

  • 12 + years of relevant experience, out of which, at least 5+ years leadership and management experience with a proven track record of managing technology teams and programs in diversified areas

  • Experience with project, program, or portfolio management with a focus on technology and innovation

  • Relevant experience in agriculture and construction equipment

  • Ability to mentor, create teams and collaborate

  • Ability to adjust strategy to enable cross-corporation partnerships

  • Ability to translate detailed technical information to relatable material for a broader audience

  • Comfort with ambiguity, and ability to thrive in a rapidly evolving internal corporate environment

  • Strong communications skills and the ability to coach others

  • Experience of leading organization of engineers in a global, matrix environment and building a strong accountable engineering team.

  • Ability in influencing and collaborating in order to maximize effectiveness in matrix organization

  • Excellent facilitation skills as well as strong strategic and operating skills.

  • Ability to work at a high pace and in an agile manner, thriving on a quickly-moving and ever-changing environment
