Soil & Crop Modeling Engineer
Who are we looking for:
This position will support CNHI’s Soil & Crop Modeling (SCM) engineering activities for Combine Harvesting equipment. The individual in this position is responsible to build and execute simulations related to productivity and efficiency improvement of combine harvesting equipment, including but not limited to combines and headers. The individual will travel to the field in order to gain product and functional experience for the sake of improving accuracy and correlation of simulation results. This individual will maintain documention on projects and create standard procedures. The individual will be in close communication with the product development, validation, and analysis teams. The objective of the SCM engineer is to strive for continuous improvement and optimization of the functionality of the products manufactured by CNHi.
Your key responsibilities:
Build and execute simulations to optimize product design for the efficient flow and/or processing of cereal grains and straw in equipment including combines and headers.
Expand the library of virtual crops through experimental measurement of mechanical crop properties.
Develop methodologies and standard procedures for system and sub-system simulations.
Work with the product validation teams in devising testing procedures for evaluating simulation correlation to physical behavior.
Work with design teams to communicate the findings of the simulations and provide recommendations to improve product performance.
Other information:
Collaborate with other SCM team members in other locations and across product lines.
Attend industry conferences pertaining to Soil & Crop Modeling technology. Review and understand technologies and trends in crop modeling software and hardware. Develop partnerships with universities for technology scouting and supervise engineering interns
Your key competences and qualifications:
.Ph.D. preferably in Agricultural Engineerin
5 years experience in Discrete-Element Method (DEM) simulation.
5 years experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation.
Basic knowledge of plant biology.
Knowledge of mechanical systems on combine and header equipment.
Experience with farm equipment
Experience with instrumentation and testing with research apparatus.
Willingness to travel and participate in field evaluation.
Experience with Multi-body Dynamics (MBD) and/or Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulation.
