Global Technical Expert - Feeder


Job description:

The Global Technical Expert Feeder will be responsible as technical expert for feeder (for all CNH combines: conventional, hybrid & rotary). She/he is responsible for the technical executions/configurations and functional performance of the feeder package including the structure (carry the header). He/she is not only working on new concepts in cooperation with innovation but as well supporting current platforms. Reliability & durability of the feeder components are as well fallen under the responsibility


Your key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the design assumptions of feeder. Will “translate” the program requirements in design assumptions/technical specifications.

  • Support the design engineers for design, layout and drawing activities related to feeder.

  • Determines the functional layout with the team and is responsible for the functionality of the concepts

  • Is capable to forecast functional capacities of current & new concepts from CNH industrial designs and competition.

  • Responsible for the functionality and quality of the design or in other words is technical responsible for the drawings/models which are released to production.

  • Responsible for functional/technical support to manufacturing, service, marketing, ... on feeder.

  • Responsible for the TRL (Technology Readiness Level) of feeder.

  • Responsible for the technical roadmap. Including mapping of systems, commonality between systems and platforms, status of today, summary of past developments.

  • Responsible for proper documentation.

  • Responsible for training roll outs in entire PE.

  • Supports the platforms for current & new product, quality improvement, cost reductions, CPI design and manufacturing issue resolution support related to feeder.

  • Identify and collect information pertinent to engineering calculations to analyze and resolve design/functional problems. Is capable to do basic calculations in order to understand if proposed changes will be effective.

  • Work effectively with a cross-functional team of individuals on complex problems.

  • Effective (global) communication of issues/ideas/concepts and solutions.

  • Work effectively with the Analysis and Validation teams on the development of validation plans.

  • Work effectively with the crop flow simulation team

  • Work effectively with Supplier Quality/Manufacturing to ensure designs are efficiënt for manufacturing and able to meet quality requirements.

  • Needs to work very closely with the header team

  • This position pays $101,000 to $155,000 (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)


Typical Decisions Made:

  • Determine functional concepts/configurations of feeder

  • Define the TRL of a sub system of feeder

  • Confirm the strength of the frame

  • Provide input for control logic for e.g., remote front face, lateral tilt, lift cylinders (HHC)

  • Define impact parameters on throughput, power consumption, grain damage, back feeding, noise


Desired Profile:

The qualified candidate will have:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Civil or Agricultural Engineering and 5 plus years’ experience in crop harvesting or in other engineering activities where crop is processed OR Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil or Agricultural Engineering and 7 plus years in crop harvesting or in other engineering activities where crop is processed.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Agronomic skills/background

  • Familiarity with Creo, FMEA, DOE, EDEM, FEA, Pugh Concept selection and test procedures is desirable.

  • Excellent written and oral communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

  • Must be available to travel to field test sites (Global) as required (20% or more).

  • This position is eligible for HYBRID flexible work arrangements, but preferred onsite for best efficiency, onboarding and coaching
